Website Image Tip #1.  Always use quality images

August 22, 2019 By Becky Bruso

Enhance Your Brand with Quality Website Image Choices

Website Image Tip #1 is all about how quality images will enhance your brand as being professional.  Strive to present your virtual brand via your website with crisp imagery.  Using this practice sets you up as a professional.

Sloppy and unprofessional images can be likened to visiting the physical location of a store and finding it to have grimy windows and being generally  in a state of disarray.  When you are faced with going into a business with such an exterior, your subconscious mind has already formed an opinion about what the place looks like inside.  Instinctively you know whether or not you want to go to business with them or not. Chance are it is not a good mental image.

To get an idea about how images give an overall look and feel for a website, take a look at the next two photos  of the same website.

The first website shown did not receive kudos for its design.  The second one shows how photo choice impacts the image of your website and can make a drastic improvement in concept and visual appeal.  Which one would you prefer to visit?

When a website visitor stops by your website, you want to ensure that you put your best foot forward with quality images that enhance your messaging.  You only have a few seconds to create a positive experience and create a good impression within the mind of your website visitors.  If website visitors don’t like what they see, they will click away and any shot you had at winning them as a customer or client is lost.  Let’s take a quick look at the different mental images conveyed by these two photos with similar concepts.  Suppose you wanted to convey the concept of a sparkler, which of these images would do the trick better?
If you said, it depends, you would be absolutely correct.  Not only does each  image convey a concept but they communicate a mood which has subjective qualities that support or detract from any text copy used with the image.    The first sparkler image might be used to portray a fun loving event with the woman enjoying her experience up close.  While it is a good quality photo, it has a darker tone but excellent composition and leaves something to question with the image.  Who is she offering the sparkler to?  Her child, her mate, or simply watching it herself.  It has a more mysterious feeling than the second image.  The sparkler in the second image is pure fire and light.  It tells a story of one item only, the sparkler itself with its unique uses of light and color.  Either could be a good choice depending upon the context you plan to use it on your website.   Use your image choices to help support your business text copy and keep your website visitors on your website!
